Szijjártó: the meeting between Orban and Zelensky is impossible due to non-compliance with the rights of Hungarians in Transcarpathia

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said that a meeting between Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is impossible, since Kyiv has still not fulfilled Budapest’s demands on the rights of Hungarians in Transcarpathia.

The Hungarian diplomat recalled that during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak in Uzhgorod, he called on Keiva to return to the Hungarian minority the rights that they had before 2015.

“We gave a document containing 11 points, what decisions are necessary on the Ukrainian side for this situation to move forward. We are not asking for anything more, only the return of the rights that the Hungarians of Transcarpathia had,” Szijjártó said

He expressed regret that the document that Hungary received from the Ukrainian side does not contain any progress on this issue.
