Hublot returns to cooperation with Depeche Mode – Kommersant

The release of the fifteenth studio album Memento Mori by the British group Depeche Mode and the world tour in its support (the first concert of its fourth stage will take place today in Lisbon) prompted the Hublot watch brand to resume cooperation with the group and release the Spirit of Big Bang Depeche Mode model, limited to 100 pieces.

As the name suggests, it has a barrel-shaped case with a Spirit of Big Bang design, 42mm in diameter and 13.8mm thick, made of black ceramic. The design of the dial – a skull inscribed in an hourglass filled with black ceramic spheres that flow up and down with the movement of the wrist – symbolically refers to the title of the album, reminiscent of the transience of life. At the 6 o’clock position are the initials DM – the band’s logo. The hour markers are shaped like double pyramids, and the same motif is present on the bezel and black rubber strap, one of two that can be easily replaced thanks to the One Clic system. Another black strap with a Velcro closure is made from recycled materials and recalls the mission of the third participant in the collaboration, the Conservation Collective, a charity dedicated to cleaning up the natural environment from used plastic. She is also a partner in Depeche Mode’s concert tour. The partners’ logos are found on the sapphire crystal case back, which reveals the automatic movement with a 50-hour power reserve. For CHF 31,000, music lovers will receive a watch and a bonus in the form of a Depeche Mode Waving Tongue vinyl single made from recycled PVC.
