How Vladimir Putin announced his participation in the elections

On August 9, 1999, in a televised address to the people, President Boris Yeltsin, speaking about the next elections, named FSB Director Vladimir Putin “a person capable of consolidating society.” On January 13, 2000, already in the rank of i. “In a word, enemies, competitors, and supporters believe that Putin has victory in the pocket of his ill-fitting jacket, and there are no options. The rivals reconciled themselves, the supporters almost calmed down. The line of behavior in the election campaign will apparently be based on this confidence: supporters will relax, oppositionists will fight formally.”

According to the results of voting on March 26, Vladimir Putin scored 52.9% of votes (about 39.75 million voters) and won in the first round. The turnout was 68.7%.

2003

For the second time, Vladimir Putin announced his decision to run for office December 18, 2003 during a straight line. To a direct question from a resident of Krasnodar, he replied: “I planned to make this statement in the coming days, since the official campaign has just begun. I know that there are many such questions. My answer is affirmative: yes, I will run.”

On March 14, 2004, Vladimir Putin won by gaining 71.31% votes (about 49.5 million voters) with a turnout of 64.38%.

2011

September 24, 2011 During the United Russia congress, then-current President Dmitry Medvedev proposed that the congress support the candidacy of Vladimir Putin for the post of head of state. On November 27, at the second party congress, Mr. Putin was officially nominated. In his speech, he stated: “The basis for the stable and sustainable development of the country has been created. Our task now is to build on this foundation a strong, rich, prosperous Russia, the Russia of the 21st century.”

“The congress delegates have begun voting. In the ballot, as it later turned out, only three words were written in large letters: “Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.” It was explained in more detail that there is no need to circle or put a cross: if the delegate agrees with this candidacy, you can simply put the ballot in the ballot box… When the voting results were summed up, it turned out that there was no one against it. 614 people are in favor of nominating Vladimir Putin as a candidate for the presidency of Russia. There were no spoiled ballots.”

On March 4, 2012, Vladimir Putin won the first round, gaining 63.6% of votes (45.6 million voters) with a turnout of 65.34%.

2017

Vladimir Putin announced his participation in the presidential elections December 6, 2017. This happened at a meeting with employees of the Gorky Automobile Plant in Nizhny Novgorod. The senior foreman of the site, Artem Baranov, said that all those present were ready to support the candidacy of Vladimir Putin, and asked him to announce his decision. The President replied: “Indeed, there is probably no better place and better reason to announce this. Thank you for your support, I will nominate my candidacy for the post of President of the Russian Federation.” On December 23, 2017, the congress of the United Russia party officially voted to support the nomination of Vladimir Putin as a candidate.

– I am always with you! – Vladimir Putin exclaimed. – After all, I already said: this is a family thing for us!

On March 18, 2018, Vladimir Putin won the presidential election in the first round. He dialed 76.69% votes (56.4 million voters) with a turnout of 67.54%.
