How Russian politicians reacted to the terrorist attack against Prilepin

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the car of the writer and politician, co-chairman of the Just Russia party Zakhar Prilepin was blown up. Russian politicians who managed to react to what happened are virtually unanimous in saying that Ukraine is acting as a terrorist state.

The explosion occurred at about 11:00 Moscow time in one of the settlements of the Borsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. An explosive device detonated in the Audi Q7 car in which Prilepin was located. The driver died as a result of the accident.

The official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, said that a man was detained in the Nizhny Novgorod region in hot pursuit, who may be involved in the explosion. The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a criminal case under Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist attack).

The chairman of A Just Russia and the leader of the party faction in the State Duma, Sergei Mironov, wrote in his Telegram channel that “this planned and organized terrorist attack is another impudent challenge” from Ukraine, “which is working with might and main right in the Russian outback, targeting the ideologists” of the special operation .

“This is another confirmation that the military special operation needs to be transferred to a different mode and to a different level, make it counter-terrorist, and start working on the leaders of the terrorists using the entire arsenal of means of the Russian Armed Forces,” Mironov wrote.

The first deputy head of the Just Russia faction, Dmitry Gusev, also called the incident a terrorist act. “This is a terrorist attack on the values ​​that Zakhar personified (and probably still personifies. – Vedomosti), for which he fought – with weapons in his hands and with his works. These values ​​are love for one’s country. When it is attacked, it must be protected. It seems to me that this is the most important thing,” he told Vedomosti.

According to Gusev, Prilepin’s condition allows us to conclude that “everything will be fine” with him.

Yaroslav Nilov, deputy head of the LDPR faction, told Vedomosti in the State Duma that he “would not wish the enemy” to see what had happened and wished Prilepin a speedy recovery. “We are now in a situation where provocations and terrorist attacks are inevitable. Today it is important for all of us to unite, to leave all differences for later,” he said.

A source in the State Duma notes that it was precisely in connection with potential threats, for example, that it was decided to stop publishing detailed declarations of deputies and officials. However, Prilepin did not belong to them – although he ran for the State Duma in the federal part of the list, he refused the mandate (handed it over to Dmitry Kuznetsov, elected, by the way, from the Nizhny Novgorod region).

State Duma deputy and head of the press service of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Alexander Yushchenko also spoke about the threats against Russian politicians and public figures, and urged them not to be ignored and not taken as the norm. “Ukrainian special services and the Ukrainian regime have chosen the path of terrorist actions against the civilian population – this can be seen both in the shelling and in the work of sabotage groups,” Yushchenko said.

In his opinion, the assassination attempt on Prilepin, the deaths of military commander Vladlen Tatarsky and Daria Dugina are “links in the same chain”, underground organizations financed from abroad. The deputy wished Prilepin a speedy recovery and expressed confidence that threats should be taken seriously and “the death of one person does not guarantee the safety of others.”

“Of course, this is a terrorist attack, a cynical terrorist attack, and the Ukrainian regime went for it, repeating all the attributes of ISIS (an organization recognized as a terrorist organization and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation),” Yushchenko summed up.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Security Committee Mikhail Starshinov (United Russia) suggested waiting for the end of the investigation [уголовного дела по факту взрыва]. “I understand the temptation to put forward theories, and you can even guess what they are, but this can prevent the operatives from working. It’s hard to know what to react to.”

However, the deputy chairman of the Security Council and the chairman of United Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, called the attempt on Prilepin “a vile attack.” This was announced by Medvedev’s assistant Oleg Osipov, TASS writes.
