The main achievement of the corporation in power engineering is the completion of the development and testing of the first Russian high-capacity turbine GTD-110M. It took ten years to create a copy. UEC together with Rosnano, Inter RAO and the Ministry of Industry and Trade resumed work on the turbine in 2013. In 2017, one of the mechanisms of the machine failed, but the UEC called the breakdown not fatal. In January 2023, the UEC announced that the unit had successfully passed tests at the stand of the Ivanovskie CCGT (325 MW, owned by Inter RAO). The first GTD-110M will be installed at the Udarnaya TPP in the Krasnodar Territory, which is being built by Technopromexport (controlled by Rostec). The launch of the station is scheduled for the end of 2023. In 2025–2026, UEC plans to supply three turbines to Gazprom Energoholding for installation at the power units of the Novocherkasskaya GRES, which will be paid back through guaranteed payments from the energy market.
