“The vast majority of newcomers plan to stay with us temporarily,” says a real estate agent in Yerevan. – Either in the hope of “waiting until everything calms down”, or in order to subsequently rush from Armenia to Europe, therefore the demand for renting apartments has grown wildly, and not for buying them. Back in the spring, many IT people came to us with good money. They can afford to rent good housing, they are paid by foreign employers. Even then, rental prices skyrocketed. While they do not redeem housing, but some are already interested in buying. And after the announcement of mobilization, real madness began in our country. Rental prices have doubled. And Yerevan is a small city, and almost everything has already been filmed.

It is clear that such an influx of people in the city is good for his budget, says the realtor. However, local residents are very unhappy with such a rise in prices.

– If earlier they could rent an apartment for themselves for 300-400 dollars, now, when prices have doubled, they suffer greatly. The amount that a Russian considers “normal” for himself is too much for Armenians! And tenants, of course, rent to those who are willing to pay more.

Now, according to the realtor, in Yerevan, the owners are massively doing repairs in their homes, many are in a hurry to buy apartments for rent in order to make a profit while there is such a wild demand.

– Many of those who have arrived now, after the announcement of mobilization, do not have a normal job; they took all their savings and quickly arrived,” the man continues. – Now they can afford to pay such amounts for rent, but what will they do next? They’re running out of money. And they will not find a job with us that pays good money. Our work is bad even for our own people. Besides, something tells me that this is only the beginning. In Kazakhstan, according to local reports, there is also a boom in demand for rental housing, and, accordingly, prices. Due to the influx of Russians, the cost of renting apartments in Astana and Alma-Ata has almost tripled. One Astana resident claims that tenants are evicting unfortunate local students from their apartments en masse, preferring “rich Russians” to them.
