“Hope for negotiations once again are not destined to come true” – Kommersant FM

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said he sensed a change in the mood of some Western leaders. According to him, in the event of a reduction or termination of assistance from the allies, we could talk about the complete militarization of the country’s economy. Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock arrived in Kyiv on an unscheduled visit. We are also talking about the supply of German long-range missiles. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize believes that negotiations should not be expected again.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, in an interview with The Economist magazine, said that he saw weakness in the eyes of a number of Western partners. According to the president, looking into his eyes, they assure of their full support, saying that we are with you to the end, but in fact everything is the other way around. Mr. Zelensky’s acting background helps him understand the essence of a person at the level of intuition. He learned this as a show business star.

Next, the most important thing: if the above-mentioned weakness of Western partners turns into a trend, then you will have to act alone. This means that the complete militarization of the Ukrainian economy cannot be ruled out. But the West is at risk, at least in the sense that escalation is fraught with new millions of Ukrainian refugees.

In another interview with CNN, Zelensky noted that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces is not a movie with a happy ending; it cannot end with a happy ending, including due to heavy losses. It may seem that Vladimir Alexandrovich is not entirely fair.

The head of the State Department, Antony Blinken, who recently visited Kiev, said after the G20 summit in New Delhi that tango is usually danced together. Ukraine is ready for negotiations, unlike Russia. Moscow must come up with an appropriate initiative. Washington will support Kyiv as long as necessary, as previously stated. The Kremlin, naturally, objected to all this. But in fact we see that there are no negotiations.

In turn, US President Joe Biden still did not rule out the supply of long-range ATACMS-type missiles. And so the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Bärbock, came to the capital of Ukraine on an unplanned visit, and it seems that we are also talking about the German analogue – Taurus missiles. In addition, Zelensky’s great friend Boris Johnson also came to Kyiv these days. Apparently, the West will not give up moral support.

Well, the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un is arriving in Russia – now for sure. The main issue, as Western newspapers assure us, is the supply of weapons. And, probably, this is the answer from the Western coalition. There is an opinion that at the same time pressure is being put on Zelensky to be more accommodating and at the same time carry out internal reforms.

If we sum up the intermediate result, apparently, even hypothetical hopes for peace negotiations are once again destined to not come true.

There is already direct talk about the start of the winter campaign with new types of weapons. There is no doubt that long-range missiles will arrive sooner or later. And, something tells us, the resumption of the grain deal is being postponed again. Moreover, it may be that the West will take certain steps to refute allegations of its weakness. In fact, he is already making them. The situation is evolving.
