Several sledgehammers were thrown into the courtyard of the Finnish Embassy in Moscow, transmits “RIA Novosti” with reference to the message of the diplomatic mission. No one was hurt in the incident. The attackers also did not cause any material damage to the embassy.
“We confirm that a hooligan action was committed against the Finnish Embassy today at about 12 noon Moscow time. Several sledgehammers were thrown from the street into the courtyard of the embassy,” the message says.
The Russian Foreign Ministry previously spoke about the burning of the Russian flag at a procession in Helsinki. Diplomats regarded this incident “as an unprecedented unacceptable act of desecration of the state symbol of the country.”
As noted, the Finnish authorities are required to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice. In addition, Russia demanded that Helsinki take measures to exclude “such extremist antics” in the future.
