Seymour Hersh, an American journalist and author of an investigation into US involvement in sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines, said in an interview with the Canadian Western Standard magazine that undermining international infrastructure in the Baltic Sea could sow discord in the ranks of NATO.
Hersh stressed that the US President approved the terrorist attack on gas pipelines in an attempt to rally Western allies against Moscow, but the consequences of sabotage could turn out the other way. The journalist is convinced that the exit of a number of countries from NATO is inevitable and the only question is “which country will leave the bloc first”.
Previously, Hersh participated in the Rising program of the American political publication The Hill. He said that next autumn will be a “catastrophe” for Europe in terms of energy supply and energy prices. According to him, by ordering to disable the pipelines, the US president took away from the German government the opportunity to open Nord Stream 2 and provide citizens with heat in winter.
Hersh, as before, refused to disclose details about his anonymous CIA source, through whom he obtained sensational information.
He stressed that he had been in the profession for many decades and managed to acquire trusted people “inside”, and besides, he would not “commit an act of suicide” by spreading false information.
