The premiere of the military drama “Air” directed by Alexei German Jr. will take place at the 36th Tokyo International Film Festival. The film was included in the main competition of the film festival, which will be held from October 23 to November 1, the press service of the film told TASS.

The competition program included 15 foreign films from 1942. In particular, films from Japan, China, Germany, the Philippines, the USA, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Chile were also selected.

The film festival consists of nine programs, the main one of which is the competitive one, the main prize is the Tokyo Grand Prix. The jury of the competition program was headed by director Wim Wenders. Screenings as part of the festival are organized at several venues in central Tokyo. A total of 219 films will be shown during the event.

The plot of the film “Air” centers on a unit of female pilots who ended up in a mixed aviation regiment during the Great Patriotic War. The main roles were played by Anastasia Talyzina and Aglaya Tarasova, the film also starred Sergei Bezrukov, Elena Lyadova, Anton Shagin, Kristina Lapshina and Maria Melnikova.
