HeadHunter: Russian companies staged a “wage race” due to sanctions

The actual salary in Russia, taking into account additional charges, in the third quarter increased by an average of 6.4% compared to the same period in 2021 (by 5 thousand rubles to 90.5 thousand rubles before taxes). This is especially true for the construction and logistics sectors, which are experiencing a shortage of personnel, according to a study by analysts from the salary database of the HeadHunter job search portal.
The authors of the study studied data on total income – they are quarterly provided by more than 740 companies from different industries throughout Russia.
The leaders in the growth of actual wages in the third quarter are construction and transport logistics. The income of workers in these industries increased by 10% and 9%, respectively. In monetary terms, at the end of September, they received an average of 68.8 thousand and 58.6 thousand rubles. According to the respondents RBC experts, this speaks of a “wage race”, when employers are rapidly raising salaries to attract staff.
At the same time, incomes grow more in those industries that are experiencing a shortage of personnel. Thus, among workers of mental labor, wages increased by an average of 5%. For manual laborers, as well as for mass and linear personnel, who are becoming less and less on the labor market, the increase was on average greater and amounted to 7%. The total income of top managers grew the least. Their salaries, taking into account premiums and bonuses, increased by 4%.
In addition to the “wage race”, another trend in the labor market against the backdrop of sanctions was the encouragement of managers and managers of an expert level with bonuses and bonuses: their total income increased by 7.3 and 8.5%, respectively, to 213 thousand and 179 thousand rubles.
