The head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Alexander Shokhin, said that the Russian authorities agreed with the business on a one-time payment as a mandatory one. At the same time, he noted that it is not clear to him how to count the windfall profits of companies when they are not, in fact, windfall profits.
“We have agreed that this will be a mandatory payment — a quasi windfall tax — a wind-blown tax, the emergence of which is associated with a unique combination of favorable operating conditions for companies and the situation in a number of sectors, which made it possible for companies in 2022 and 2021 to obtain financial results more than significant than in the previous couple of years,” said Mr. Shokhin (quoted by RIA Novosti).
The news is being added.
