IAEA head Grossi announced a real danger to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

According to Rafael Grossi of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant faces a serious threat after the last backup power line was switched off. The IAEA press service emphasized that this event highlights the real danger that this energy facility faces.

The 330 kV high-voltage power supply line “Ferosplavnaya-1”, operating from Ukraine, was disconnected from the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant on the morning of April 4, which led to a shutdown of the station’s units. IAEA experts note that over the past week they have heard explosions every day in different areas from the nuclear power plant.

In addition, Ukrainian authorities reported damage to energy facilities due to explosions, and DTEK lost a significant part of its generating capacity after attacks on its thermal power plants. The Russian Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the attacks are being carried out on Ukrainian military and energy facilities and related infrastructure.
