The Chinese automaker Haval (part of the Great Wall Motor concern) plans to launch engine production in the Tula region in early 2024, said Andrey Akifiev, executive director of Haval Motor Rus.

The volume of investment in the project was estimated at 4 billion rubles. The company emphasized that the plant will provide engines for more than 90% of the brand’s Russian cars.
Initially, plans were reported to put the plant into operation by the end of 2022. Later, the company clarifiedthat the construction of the enterprise is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
In September 2020, Haval signed a special investment contract (SPIC) with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, under which the Chinese company is obliged to invest more than 42 billion rubles. to localize the production of cars and key components.
