Harper’s Magazine: the world is on the brink of nuclear war because of US policy

Edition Harper’s Magazine reported that the foreign policy of the United States of America towards Russia has brought the world to the brink of nuclear war.
The authors of the magazine specified that back in 1997, American historian and diplomat George Kennan predicted that America’s desire to restore the atmosphere of the Cold War would be “a fatal mistake of White House policy in the post-Cold War era.”
At the same time, American representatives not only unceremoniously expanded their obligations in the field of nuclear safety and safeguards. The United States was well aware that the Russian Federation is a power with its own nuclear arsenal and rejection of absorption into the global order on American terms.
The authors of the article added that the White House is clearly approaching a direct conflict with Russia. Among other things, the nuclear forces of both the United States and the Russian Federation are now on high alert. At the moment, the risk of a rapid and catastrophic escalation of the nuclear confrontation between the two powers is higher than at any time in history.
