Hamas on Thursday strongly denied any involvement in the killings and beheadings of infants, saying the accusations were “unethically and unprofessionally accepted by Western media.”

“We strongly deny these accusations, rejecting media bias, and call on the media to abide by the code of journalistic ethics,” Basim Naim, a spokesman for the Hamas news bureau, said in a video message.

The official called Hamas’s massive surprise attack on Israel on Saturday a “defensive operation” and “intra-Palestinian.”

“The operation was aimed only at Israeli military bases and complexes,” Naeem said, despite evidence to the contrary.

“The high command of the Al-Qassam Brigades gave clear instructions not to attack or kill civilians,” a Hamas spokesman said.

Previously CNN reported that days after Hamas launched a large-scale surprise attack on Israel, horrific details were still emerging.

In Kfar Aza, a kibbutz in southern Israel, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told CNN that militants carried out a “massacre” in which women, children, babies and the elderly were “brutally killed.”

Tal Heinrich, a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said on Wednesday that babies and toddlers were found with their heads “decapitated” in Kfar Aza in southern Israel following Hamas attacks on a kibbutz over the weekend. Netanyahu’s office on Thursday released “horrifying photographs” of two babies whose bodies were burned beyond recognition, as well as the bloodied body of an infant.

Hamas militants are holding up to 150 people hostage in various areas of Gaza following their raids in southern Israel on Saturday, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations said on Monday.
