Hamas appreciated Putin’s position and Russia’s efforts to resolve the conflict

Hamas highly appreciated the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Russian efforts, including aimed at stopping attacks on the Gaza Strip. About it reports RIA Novosti with reference to the organization’s statement.

“We in the Hamas movement highly appreciate the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the ongoing Zionist (Israeli) aggression against our people and his opposition to the blockade of Gaza, the cessation of aid supplies to it and attacks on civilians there,” the publication quotes the group as saying.

On October 13, during a conversation with journalists in Kyrgyzstan, Putin notedthat Russia can help mediate between Israel and Palestine, since the Russian side has “good” and “traditional” relations with these countries, and Moscow will not be suspected of “playing along.”

The Russian leader also said that Israel was facing an unprecedented attack, but despite “fierceness on both sides,” “we need to think about the civilian population.” Putin also called the possible cessation of food and electricity supplies to Gaza unacceptable.

On October 11, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani called on Russian President Vladimir Putin, as the leader of the country – a permanent member of the UN Security Council, to provide support in ending the hostilities between Israel and the Palestinian radical organization Hamas.

The escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict occurred on the morning of October 7. Hamas militants attacked Israeli army units on the border with the Gaza Strip, freely entered Israeli populated areas and took military and civilian hostages. The Israel Defense Forces responded by launching Operation Iron Swords.
