Guterres announced work on removing barriers to the export of agricultural products from Russia

The UN is working with the United States and the European Union to remove obstacles to the export of non-sanctioned agricultural products and fertilizers from Russia, said UN Secretary General António Guterres.
“Increasing food and fertilizer exports from Ukraine and Russia is critical for global food markets and will help drive down food prices,” said Guterres at a press conference with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar at the Istanbul Joint Coordination Center (TASS quote).
According to the UN Secretary General, the barriers to the export of products from the Russian Federation relate to the issues of transportation, financing and insurance of ships. “It is very important that all governments and the private sector work together to ensure that they [Россия] entered the markets,” Guterres said.
On the eve of the press service of the UN published the text of the speech of the Secretary General in the port of Odessa. He also called access to the world markets of Russian food and fertilizers, which are not subject to sanctions, a problem. Guterres arrived in Odessa to monitor how the implementation of the “grain deal” was progressing.
“It is important that all governments and the private sector work together to bring them to market. Without fertilizer in 2022, there may not be enough food in 2023,” said the UN Secretary General.
After visiting Ukraine, the UN Secretary General flew to Istanbul, where he visited the Joint Coordinating Center. Today, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Defense at a press conference with Guterres informedthat more than 656,300 tons of grain have been exported from the ports of Ukraine since August 1.
On July 22, representatives of Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the export of Ukrainian grain, as well as on assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. On July 27, the Joint Coordination Center for the export of grain began its work in Istanbul.
