Guardian: Before the SVO, Abramovich gave his ex-wife Zhukova works of art worth almost $1 billion

Businessman Roman Abramovich, before the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, gave his ex-wife Daria Zhukova a collection of artistic works to avoid Western sanctions. The corresponding investigation was carried out by journalists The Guardian.
It is noted that the procedure for transferring property occurred three weeks before the Russian operation. Based on data obtained during the investigation, as of 2018, Abramovich had accumulated 367 works of art worth a total of $963 million.
It is reported that the entrepreneur transferred 59% of the rights to the entire collection to his ex-wife Zhukova, leaving the rest for himself. As a result, this allowed Abramovich to keep his entire collection, leaving it outside the sanctions that hit his other assets, including the English football club Chelsea.
The publication notes that Abramovich’s large collection included dozens of world works. It included works by Francis Bacon, Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, Claude Monet, René Magritte, Kazimir Malevich and others.
It is currently unknown where they all are now.
