The head of Sberbank German Gref believes that Russian budget spending will continue to grow. According to him, in this regard, business expects an increase in the tax burden from the beginning of the new year.
“Obviously, the expenditure part of the budget will grow. The only such degree of freedom is the volume and direction of budget expenditures to support the economy. In many ways, the rest of the costs are deterministic. From which the business concludes that, most likely, we will see an increase in the tax burden from the new year, ”said Mr. Gref, speaking at the business breakfast of Sberbank at SPIEF.
By prior evaluation Ministry of Finance, budget expenditures over the past five months (January-May) amounted to 13.229 trillion rubles, 27% higher than in 2022. The budget deficit for this period amounted to 3.411 trillion rubles.
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said at SPIEF that this year the Ministry of Finance expects to fulfill the plan for budget revenues. At the same time, according to the minister, many budget expenditure items “can be reviewed.”
