In Russia there is now a colossal shortage of specialists in the field of artificial intelligence, said German Gref, Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, during the online lesson “Talk about important things.”

“Our country currently has one of the lowest unemployment rates historically and has a shortage of digital talent. And of course, first of all, today there is a colossal shortage of specialists – those who own modern technologies in the field of building modern generative neural networks, that is, specialists in the field of artificial intelligence,” – said Gref.

Speaking about which professions will be most in demand in Russia in 5-10 years, he noted that the vast majority of them will remain, but will “change greatly.”

Gref earlier brought data according to which the personnel shortage in the IT industry is 1 million people. He noted that this problem will not be solved in the coming years. According to Sber’s estimates for the next five to six years, the deficit will only grow, and artificial intelligence can replace IT specialists in all areas without exception. Gref noted that “very big changes” in the labor market will occur in the next two to three years.
