Greek media reacted with alarm to the explosion in the port of Odessa near Zelensky

Arrival reported 150 meters from the Prime Minister of Hellas

According to the Greek publication Protothema, at 11:43 on Wednesday, the motorcade of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was attacked by a missile, which was located 150 meters from the Greek mission under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“There are no security concerns for the Prime Minister and the Greek mission,” official Greek government sources said.

“Everything is fine with us,” State Minister Stavros Papastavrou, who is in the Greek mission, organized in extreme secrecy and in which, in addition to the prime minister, 8 other people and their security are involved, told Protothema earlier. In particular, Anna-Maria Boura, Director of the Diplomatic Office of the Prime Minister, Director of Communications Maximos Cyrus Kapis, International Relations and Media Consultant Aristotelia Peloni and Head of Press Service Alexandros Marakis, as well as Dimitris Papamitsos and Alexis Papachristos, personal photographer and cameraman respectively Mitsotakis.

The meeting between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Vladimir Zelensky took place as usual, the Greek publication writes. The tete-a-tete conversation between the two politicians lasted a total of half an hour, which, as noted, exceeded the planned time.

Mitsotakis reiterated that Greece will continue to support Ukraine within its capabilities and without weakening Greek defense power. At the same time, he emphasized that Athens supports Kyiv’s European and Euro-Atlantic perspective.

The Greek Prime Minister arrived in Ukraine in the early hours of the morning in extreme secrecy, intending to stay there for a few hours before heading to Bucharest for the European People’s Party (EPP) summit. He first visited the border post and then met with Zelensky in the Odessa port.

According to news website BNN Breaking, the attack near the meeting place between Prime Minister Mitsotakis and President Zelensky serves as a stark reminder of the volatile situation in Ukraine and its implications for international diplomacy and security. The incident, while not deterring the Greek delegation, underscores the urgency of bolstering air defense capabilities and bolstering support for Kyiv, the website notes. The strong historical ties between Greece and Odessa complicate Greece’s diplomatic and humanitarian position, reinforcing the need for a coherent international response to the crisis.

Meanwhile, the authors of the “Typical Odessa” telegram channel expressed confidence that the Ukrainian president “loves demonstration concerts” and simply decided to “promote himself.”
