Greece warned in Crimea about risks in case of S-300 transfer to Ukraine

The transfer of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Kyiv will be a risky step for Greece, declared “RIA Novosti” Permanent Representative of the Crimea under the President of the Russian Federation, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic Georgy Muradov.

“Such a step by Athens would not only be a senseless demonstration of hostility towards Russia, but also a risky step in relation to their own national interests, as the Greek public is already loudly declaring,” Muradov told the agency.

The permanent representative of the Crimea said that Greece should remember that Russia had once had friendly relations with Greece and Cyprus, Moscow had previously supplied them with S-300 complexes.

“Being at that time the Russian ambassador to Cyprus, I can remind you that they do not work against Russia, as they are equipped with a “friend or foe” recognition system. But the transfer of these complexes to Kyiv is certainly capable of radically undermining the Greek defensive potential, ”said Muradov.

On December 13, CNN reported that the US presidential administration had completed preparations for sending the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine. On December 14, the White House did not confirm this information. At the Russian embassy in Washington declaredthat sending a Patriot to Kyiv by the United States is a “provocative step” and could lead to “unpredictable consequences.”
