Governor of the Murmansk region Andrei Chibis said that the situation at the closed Salla checkpoint on the border with Finland has been resolved. It was previously reported that a queue of migrants had formed at this point, waiting to cross the border.
Since November 24, by decision of the Finnish authorities, only the Lotta checkpoint in the Kola region continues to operate on the border with the Russian Federation.
According to Chibis, 200 people decided to stay in the Russian Federation and will be sent by bus to St. Petersburg. He noted that the migration documents of these foreign citizens are in order. Another 55 foreigners are planned to be transported to the open checkpoint.
