The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that the shelling of the region by Ukraine and bad weather led to the loss of part of the crop, the damage to the agricultural industry is estimated at 1 billion rubles.

“Almost 1 billion (rub.— “b”) agriculture lost this year. Lost due to shelling, due to the fact that part of the land fell out of circulation due to understandable events. And, of course, at the end of the year, excessive water flooding of the soil hit us, part of the crop has still not been harvested. If sugar beet and corn can still be harvested in cold weather, in frost, then we will not harvest part of the soybean crop,” Mr. Gladkov said on the Rossiya 24 TV channel (quoted from TASS).

October 5 in the Belgorod region introduced emergency mode due to bad weather during harvesting. Mr. Gladkov then said that due to waterlogging of the soil, sunflower, corn and soybeans were not harvested from the fields. Since October 19, by decree of President Vladimir Putin, a medium level of response has been introduced in the region, and a state of emergency has been introduced in several border villages. According to local authorities, the damage from the shelling of the territory of the Belgorod region is 6 billion rubles.
