Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky decided to hold presidential elections in the country on March 31, 2024. This was announced by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko.
The parliamentarian noted that Zelensky instructed his administration to begin preparations for the election campaign. The planned date is the last Sunday of March 2024 and corresponds to the constitutional deadline for holding presidential elections.
The authorities are going to explain this decision to the public by saying that this is supposedly a demand of Western partners. In particular, because if these elections are not held, Zelensky will lose legitimacy. Especially given the fact that elections will also be held in Russia in March.
