Golikova called the number of Russians with wages below the minimum wage

12 million Russian citizens do not have employment contracts, another 6 million do not receive the minimum wage (minimum wage). About this during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) at the session “The labor market of Russia: the state of labor potential and the mechanisms of its development” said Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.

With reference to tax data, Golikova said that in Russia 6 million people do not receive the minimum wage. “This does not mean that they are not employed somewhere else, but according to the tax service, there are about 6 million such employed people,” reported Golikov, noting that this is a “huge body of problems” that need to be worked on (quoted by RIA Novosti).

“Another 12 million people in our country do not have any labor contracts at all, they are not hired, they do not have civil law contracts, they are not self-employed, and so on,” clarified Golikov (quote from TASS).

At the same session, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov toldthat in some territories of Russia the unemployment rate exceeds 10%. According to him, the highest unemployment rate in the country was recorded in Ingushetia.

From January 1, 2023, the minimum wage is 16,242 rubles. During his address to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed from the beginning of 2024 to index the minimum wage by an additional 10% to 19,242 rubles. At the end of May, Kotyakov announced that by 2030 the minimum wage would be 30% higher than the subsistence minimum, which now stands at 14,375 rubles.

In 2022, the median salary calculated based on the data of the Social Fund amounted to 40,368 rubles. Compared to the previous year, the indicator increased by 14.13%. In addition, by 14.14% to 65,338 rubles. the average wage has increased.
