The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) fired 21 artillery shells and three cluster munitions from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) at the Belgorod village of Zhuravlivka, informed Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov.

In a summary of strikes in the region on July 21, Gladkov also said that Zhuravlevka was attacked with a single kamikaze drone and fired from a grenade launcher, 10 shots were recorded. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired nine artillery shells and two grenade launchers at the village of Shchetinovka, and the enemy also dropped one explosive device from the UAV. According to the governor, there are no casualties or destruction in any of the settlements of the region.

The village of Ilek-Penkovka in the Krasnoyarzhsky district came under artillery fire, as a result of which 12 private households were damaged by shell fragments, three cars were damaged. The village of Vyazovoe was also attacked, a car was damaged there, Gladkov specified.

On July 7, the White House announced the transfer of cluster munitions to Kyiv. Later, the Pentagon reported that the weapons were already in Ukraine. Washington said Ukraine had provided the United States with written assurances that the ammunition would be used “with care.” The Russian Foreign Ministry called such a move a “desperate gesture,” and Denis Pushilin, acting head of the DPR, stressed that the transfer of cluster munitions would not affect the course of the special operation. The Kremlin warned that if Ukraine uses such weapons, Russia will be forced to take countermeasures. According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Washington decided to transfer this ammunition due to a shortage of 155-caliber shells from the United States.
