Scholz: NATO is not going to send its troops to Ukraine
Western countries do not want a conflict between the Russian Federation and the North Atlantic Alliance, so NATO is not going to send its troops to Ukraine to participate in hostilities. This statement was made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a speech at the Munich Security Conference.
“As before, it remains true: we do not want a conflict between Russia and NATO, so everyone who supports Ukraine has been unanimous since the beginning of the conflict that we will not send our own soldiers to Ukraine,” Scholz said.
He added that there is supposedly some kind of threat from Russia, and therefore stated that the defense capabilities of NATO member countries must remain at the proper level.
In addition, Scholz noted that countries in the Western military bloc need to invest more in their security, regardless of who becomes the new US president this year.
