A high-ranking German intelligence officer provided the FSB with secret information about Ukrainian tactics and losses. Bild writes about this.
The publication notes that we are talking about 52-year-old Bundeswehr Colonel Karsten L., who headed the security department of the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND). He is accused of treason and disclosing state secrets.
According to investigators, the officer was persuaded to cooperate by a Russian businessman. He convinced the intelligence officer that the BND information “could be useful to both our countries.”
The article says that in October last year the colonel extracted 4 files from his work computer with secret data on tactics, losses and secret operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the course of hostilities and handed them over to an intermediary. He flew to Moscow and handed over the data to the FSB.
Karsten was arrested in December last year. The intermediary was arrested in the United States and gave detailed testimony. The colonel remains silent, the publication concludes.
