German customs announced plans to confiscate Christmas gifts from Russia

German customs said it may confiscate Christmas gifts entering the country from Russia.
The agency reported that in accordance with Regulation No. 833/2014 adopted by the Council of the EU on July 31, 2014, confiscation of gifts may be required to comply with the sanctions regime.
Among the goods prohibited from importing from Russia, some may have “typical contents of gift parcels,” the report said. Customs said that these include pulp, paper, cigarettes, wood products, plastics and precious metals.
