German authorities admitted that they do not know where the country gets gas from.

The German authorities do not fully understand how exactly companies ensure the country’s gas supply due to the fact that the Cabinet of Ministers does not enter into agreements on supplies. A representative of the Ministry of Economy, when asked whether Russian gas somehow continues to flow into Germany, responded in a similar way.
“Gas supply contracts are concluded by companies,” the official said. “These are private agreements.” “Therefore, we do not have a complete picture of how companies ensure gas supplies,” he admitted.
At the same time, the country’s Ministry of Economy advocates not importing Russian gas to Germany in the form of liquefied natural gas. The shipment takes place only partly in Germany, but there are “very many other feed points” into the European gas system. “It is impossible to track this individually,” says the department representative.
