The new German ambassador to Russia, Alexander Lambsdorf, announced the need to maintain contacts between Moscow and Berlin.
He stated that this should be done despite the tension in relations between the two countries.
“It is important to maintain diplomatic contacts, as Russia and Germany did in the most difficult times,” he said.
The new German ambassador to Russia, member of the Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) Alexander Lambsdorf took office this summer. His predecessor, Geza Andreas von Geyr, may take up the position of Germany’s permanent representative to NATO. Also, Germany recently changed its ambassador to Ukraine – Anka Feldhusen was replaced by Martin Jaeger.
