Gerasimov checked the command post in the Zaporozhye direction

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov checked the forward command post of the group of troops in the Zaporozhye direction. About it informs Ministry of Defense.

During his visit to the command post, Gerasimov heard a report from Commander-in-Chief Colonel-General Alexander Romanchuk on the current situation, enemy actions and the fulfillment of tasks by Russian troops in the Orekhovskoye direction. The Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces also noted the timely identification of the enemy, the infliction of preventive strikes on him and the conduct of counter-battery combat, the military department reports.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been conducting offensive operations in the Zaporozhye, Yuzhnodonetsk and Artemivsk directions since June 4. The Russian authorities argue that the counter-offensive does not bring Kyiv the achievement of its goals.

At the end of July, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had not achieved success in any direction. According to him, all attempts at a counteroffensive were thwarted, and the enemy was driven back to their original positions.

The Russian special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. During the hostilities, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories, according to the results of referendums, became part of the Russian Federation.
