The Georgian air carrier Georgian Airways will suspend flights to Tel Aviv from October 22; those wishing to fly from Israel will be able to use transit flights through Larnaca, reports “Sputnik Georgia” with reference to a statement from the Georgian embassy in Israel.

They clarified that flights to Tel Aviv will be suspended starting tomorrow due to “separate regulations of international insurance companies.” The embassy also noted that over the past three days there has been low demand for flights from Israel to Georgia. Georgian Airways will add daily flights in the Larnaca-Tbilisi direction.

“However, for our compatriots living in Israel and other interested parties, I would like to clarify that direct flights to Tbilisi are regularly operated by Israeli airlines,” the embassy said in a statement.

Amid the worsening situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip, a number of airlines began to suspend flights to Tel Aviv, and some carriers, on the contrary, increased the number of flights. In particular, the Greek Aegean announced the suspension of flights until October 10, and the Belgian Brussels Airlines announced that it would not operate flights until October 9. On October 7, Air Astana warned of a temporary suspension of ticket sales for flights to Tel Aviv. On October 11, Russian Red Wings announced that it would increase the number of flights from Israel due to increased demand from Russians. German airline Lufthansa announcedthat it will not operate evacuation flights from Israel to remove German citizens. This week it also became known that Emirates has extended the suspension of flights to Israel until October 26.

On October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas attacked Israel. Against the backdrop of an attack by militants, the Israeli IDF army launched Operation Iron Swords, and the country went into a state of war. According to the latest data, over 5,500 people have died as a result of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, most of them Palestinians.
