Speaker of Parliament Papuashvili: Georgia will not impose sanctions against Russia
Georgia does not plan to impose sanctions against the Russian Federation, so as not to aggravate relations between the two countries due to possible risks. This was announced by the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili.
“Georgia is not going to impose bilateral sanctions against Russia… I think the international community and the population, as before, are convinced that this is the most correct and honest approach,” Papuashvili said.
He also noted that Tbilisi has repeatedly reported that it continues to follow the European request and is not going to become a territory where anti-Russian sanctions can be circumvented.
According to a member of the Georgian parliament, at the moment the country is “in a zone of increased risk of a possible conflict with Russia.”
Earlier, after the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, announced that Tbilisi was not going to join the anti-Russian sanctions. In this regard, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky decided to recall the ambassador from Georgia.
