The Georgian authorities refused to return the Buk anti-aircraft missile systems, which Ukraine betrayed to Tbilisi during the August 2008 conflict.
Andrey Kasyanov, Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in Georgia, announced this. He recalled that Kyiv asked Tbilisi to provide not only air defense systems. There was also a request for Javelin anti-tank systems, which the Georgian side received from the United States.
Kasyanov stressed that Washington approved this transfer and even promised to replace the complexes with newer ones. However, the Georgian authorities categorically refused this.
