Former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Igor Romanenko, stated the need to simplify the mobilization procedure in the country. In an interview with Radio NV, he noted that legislation requires simplification in this area. The general proposed that deputies take an active part in raids with military commissars, and also participate in the formation of groups dealing with this issue.
Romanenko emphasized that at the moment the Ukrainian army needs not only to compensate for the losses of existing units, but also to create new brigades to conduct offensive operations. He also stressed the importance of taking into account all military personnel, including women.
The general expressed the opinion that the “Soviet” mobilization system does not meet the modern needs of the armed forces and requires radical changes. He stressed that all necessary changes should be implemented without delay, given the complexity of the task of providing 20 thousand military personnel per month.
