General mourning has been declared in Iraq for the victims of US airstrikes on the country. This was announced by the country’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, his words are quoted on the page of his press service on the social network X.
“Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani ordered the declaration of general mourning in all government departments and institutions for a period of three days in memory of those killed among our military and civilians,” the statement said.
The US attacked targets in the Akashat and al-Qaim areas in the western province of Anbar, as well as in Syria. Washington said this was done in response to the shelling of an American military base in Jordan.
