The statement of a member of the State Duma Committee on Defense Viktor Sobolev on military training for Russians over 30 years old is his dreams, divorced from reality, declared the head of this committee, General Andrey Kartapolov, in a comment RBC.

“These are the dreams of Viktor Ivanovich Sobolev, not connected with reality in any way,” he said.

Today Sobolev said that after the adoption of the law on changing the age for conscription into the army, Russians who did not serve over 30 years old and are in the reserve will attract to military training. This, according to the deputy, will allow them to get a military specialty and “not be cannon fodder.” For reserve and reservists, it is also necessary to conduct training camps, he believes.

Earlier, Kartapolov said that the next spring draft will be go according to the mixed type, that is, men aged 18 to 30 will be subject to it. Later he clarifiedthat this is only one of the possible options, but the decision will be made by the Ministry of Defense. He also opposed the idea of ​​involving all youth in military training. The number of conscripts with an increase in the military age will remain the same, he stressed.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that Vladimir Putin conceptually supports raising the draft age, however, the details and execution of this initiative are the prerogative of the Ministry of Defense.
