Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General of the Reserve Andrey Gurulev explained on the air of the Crimea 24 TV channel the goals of the Russian army in the battles for Kupyansk.
“As far as Kupyansk is concerned, the main task was not to take Kupyansk itself,” Gurulev revealed.
He added that it was necessary to “unwind the enemy’s reserves.” Gurulev specified that a significant number of the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were concentrated in the Zaporozhye direction.
The general added that the Russian military is moving towards the Polish border. At the same time, he called Kharkov – “an intermediate frontier.”
