GDP per capita in Russia in 2022 approached a record – Kommersant

At the end of 2022, GDP per capita in Russia amounted to $15.44 thousand, an increase of 22.3% or $2.82 thousand. The indicator approached the record that was recorded in 2013 ($15.93 thousand), reports ” RIA Novosti” with reference to the analysis of data from the International Monetary Fund.
In 74 countries, GDP per capita increased last year. This indicator grew the most in Guyana (89.1%), Armenia (40.6%), Georgia (33.4%), Kuwait (32.7%) and the Seychelles (31%). In 25 countries, the indicator decreased, with the most noticeable decline recorded in Japan (by 15.2%), Sweden (8.6%) and Korea (7.9%).
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development informedthat at the end of 2022 the Russian economy shrank by 2.1% instead of the expected 3.5%. The Ministry of Economy of the Russian Federation expects that GDP growth in 2023 may exceed 1.2%. According to the forecast of the Central Bank, the development of the economy in 2023 will be influenced by domestic demand.
