“Gazprom» developed the concept of a gas hub in Turkey and presented it to the Turkish side. This is stated in the company’s annual report.
“The Russian side presented its concept of creating a gas hub, the parameters and principles of its operation,” the document says.
June 8 Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Nikolai Shulginov told journalists that the specific timing of the creation of the hub has not yet been determined, but “work is in progress” and there are prerequisites to speed up the resolution of this issue.
Since October 2022, Gazprom has been working with Turkish partners to create a gas hub. On October 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin came up with the idea of its creation. He noted that the falling volumes of gas transportation to the EU could be transferred from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. Later, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that he had agreed with the Russian leader to build a hub.
In December 2022, a delegation from Gazprom headed by Chairman of the Management Board Alexey Miller visited Turkey on a working visit, during which the prospects for creating a hub and supplying Russian gas to Turkish consumers were discussed.
