Gazprom Board (MOEX: GAZP) at the meeting decided to begin construction of the Belogorsk-Khabarovsk gas pipeline, which will connect the existing main gas pipelines “Power of Siberia” and Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok. The length of the new section will be more than 800 km, transmits company press service.

Construction will take place within the framework of Gazprom’s large project “Eastern Gas Supply System”, the length of which will be more than 5 thousand km. Design and survey work on other sections of the project continues.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in January in an article for a magazine “Energy Policy” wrote that the length of the Belogorsk-Khabarovsk gas pipeline will be 830 km. According to him, after connecting the two main gas pipelines within the framework of the same project, work will begin on the construction of the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline.

“Power of Siberia-2” is a joint project of the Russian Gazprom and the Chinese CNPC. The gas pipeline will have to pass through the territory of Mongolia. Its length will be 6.7 thousand km. The importance of reaching agreement on the gas pipeline as quickly as possible was discussed at a meeting in March 2023 by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
