Gazprom considers Uniper’s claims for damages unlawful

The claims of the German Uniper to Gazprom for compensation for losses due to shortages of gas from Russia were called by representatives of the Russian monopoly “illegal”. In the “daughter” of the company “Gazprom Export” they said that they did not violate the concluded contracts.
“Gazprom Export confirms that the German company Uniper has initiated arbitration proceedings. At the moment, we are studying the received statement of claim and will protect our interests within the legal framework. LLC Gazprom Export does not recognize the violation of contracts and the legitimacy of Uniper’s stated claims for damages, ”the energy company told reporters (quoted by TASS).
Today, November 30, Uniper filed lawsuit against Gazprom in the International Arbitration Court in Stockholm. The German company estimated the total losses from gas shortfalls from Russia at €11.6 billion.
