“Check index”: sales of gaming PCs in Russia in 2022 increased by 32%

For ten months, sales of gaming personal computers (PCs) in Russia in unit terms increased by 32% year-on-year. Sales of game consoles for the same period decreased by 30%. This is reported by TASS with reference to a study by the analytical resource “Check Index”.
The average check for personal computers increased by 8% to 69,683 rubles. The average purchase amount for game consoles was 37,730 rubles. More than a third of their purchases came in the first quarter. After that, sales began to fall, but in August and September they stabilized, including due to parallel imports. According to the Index Check, the decline continued in October and continued until the beginning of the November sales. Sales of the PlayStation and Xbox game consoles fell the most.
In addition, keyboards became popular, with sales up 32%. At the same time, the average bill decreased by 21%, to 862 rubles. The number of sales of computer mice increased by 45%, the average bill decreased by 9%, to 425 rubles.
As Kommersant reported, in the nine months of 2022, the share of sales of gaming monitors in Russia increased to 50% of the market as a whole. Demand for gaming laptops at the same time remained at the level of last year. Interest in gaming technology, according to experts, is due to the fact that it “helps to cope with stress.” Also, devices began to be used more actively for work purposes: powerful gaming laptops are replacing premium brands that have left the Russian Federation.
