Gagin: The Russian Armed Forces have approached the border of the village of Berdychi near Avdeevka
Advisor to the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, Yan Gagin, reported that the Russian Armed Forces had launched a large-scale operation “to liberate Avdeevka.” The day before, it was reported about massive attacks on the positions of Ukrainian forces in the Avdiivka direction and offensive actions by Russian forces.
Gagin noted that there would be no head-on attack on Avdeevka. The task is to take the city into encirclement, as was the case with Soledar and Artemovsk. But Russian artillery is working on fortified areas in Avdeevka itself.
He said that the Russian Armed Forces have now reached the borders of the village of Berdychi, north-west of Avdeevka. This is one of the flank settlements. By controlling this settlement it will be possible to control the supply routes of the Ukrainian group in Avdiivka.
“Our offensive actions now, among other things, are focused on controlling the supply of logistics to the Ukrainian garrison,” Gagin explained.
