At the three-day summit in Hiroshima, Japan, the leaders of the G7 countries agreed to solve problems related to China’s non-market practices and reaffirmed their position on Taiwan, follows from communiqué following the summit.
The approach of the G7 countries is not aimed at harming China, there is no goal of hindering its economic progress and development, the document says.
At the same time, the G7 leaders recognize that economic sustainability requires risk reduction and diversification, and overdependence in critical supply chains must be reduced.
“We will strive to address China’s non-market policies and practices that are distorting the global economy. We will counteract malicious activities such as illegal transfer of technology or disclosure of data,” the communiqué says.
The G7 leaders also said that their position on Taiwan has not changed, and called for a peaceful solution to the problems arising on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The summit participants expressed concern about the human rights situation in China and called on Beijing to put pressure on Russia on the Ukrainian issue.
