Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, in an interview on the Russia 1 channel, said that government measures to restore the fuel damper will affect 2/3 of the volume of diesel fuel supplies to foreign markets. According to him, a decision was made to resume exports of diesel fuel, since Russia produces more petroleum products than it consumes.
Alexander Novak noted that the government seeks to prevent overstocking of the fuel market, so export restrictions can be liberalized if necessary. “But the previously taken measures, which came into force on October 6, will ensure that the required volume of supplies to the domestic market is maintained,” he concluded (quoted by TASS).
From September 21, the government introduced restrictions on the export of gasoline and diesel to stabilize the domestic market. Alexander Novak stated that the measures taken helped “saturate the domestic market.” On October 6, the government announced the approval of new measures, including the restoration of the fuel damper and the lifting of export restrictions.
