The message of the DSP of the FSB of the Russian Federation states that the FSB, together with the Federal Security Service (FSO) of the Russian Federation, uncovered an intelligence operation of American intelligence services, carried out using Apple mobile devices. In the course of ensuring the security of the domestic telecommunications structure, intelligence officers found anomalies characteristic only for Apple smartphones, which are caused by the operation of previously unknown malware that uses software vulnerabilities provided by the manufacturer.
The department found that several thousand smartphones of the Cupertino company were infected with viruses. In addition, the CSO of the FSB of the Russian Federation indicated that, in addition to domestic subscribers, foreign numbers and subscribers who use SIM cards registered with diplomatic missions and embassies in Russia, including the countries of the NATO bloc and the former USSR, as well as Israel, Syria and China.
